Relden Takeoff
Take quantities directly from your PDF plans.
Open a multi-page construction PDF in your project. Set the page scale, measure a route, mark a manual count, or review similar-symbol candidates. Keep the resulting quantity connected to the document.
Smart symbol matching is implemented in Relden. Public rollout has not been announced.
The PDF workflow
The page scale comes first.
Upload to the project
Add the source PDF as a plan. Once processing has prepared its pages, open the Takeoff workspace in your browser.
Find a known dimension
Mark the two reference points and enter the actual distance in feet. Check that the reference belongs to the view you intend to measure.
Work page by page
Measure linear routes and mark manual counts. Calibrate other pages separately as needed; a scale on one page does not apply to the whole set.
Review saved work
Select a Takeoff row to return to the right page and focus its geometry. Edit the saved route or points when the review calls for a correction.
Page-specific matching
Choose a reference from the sheet you are reviewing.
Find Similar uses a selected reference symbol to find candidates on the current PDF page. Create a Symbol Set, run matching, and review the results in drawing context. Only accepted detections contribute to the linked smart count.
This is template-based similarity, not a whole-document search or a reading of every note and legend. Scan quality, nearby linework, changed symbol sizes, and orientation can affect matches. Check omissions and false matches; a score is not a probability of correctness. Smart matching requires a configured Vision service.
Document habits that matter
Check the source before trusting the result.
Zoom does not define the measurement
Saved marks are tied to the PDF’s coordinate space. Changing zoom or panning the view changes how you see the page; the measurement remains based on the saved route and page calibration.
If you correct the calibration, Relden recalculates the linear rows on that page. Review the reference carefully before changing it.
Readability still matters
Scan distortion, unclear symbols, and missing dimensions need judgment. Use a clear, known dimension and cross-check another dimension before taking off a sheet.
Relden opens the source through your authenticated project context. The public website does not receive or display your uploaded plans.

Does Relden edit the underlying PDF?
No. Takeoff stores separate route and count geometry associated with the plan. It is a measurement and review workspace, not a PDF content editor.
Do I need to calibrate before counting?
Neither manual counts nor accepted-detection counts require a distance calibration. Linear route measurements do require the page scale to be set.
Are metric measurements available?
The current linear workflow uses feet, including the known distance entered during calibration. Metric measurement units are not part of the toolset.
Can I upload CAD files instead?
The source-document workflow accepts verified PDFs. Native CAD file import is not part of the current Takeoff toolset.
