The Takeoff workflow
From a PDF to a quantity you can check.
Open the plan
Upload a PDF to your project and open its Takeoff workspace once the plan is ready. Move between pages in the same document.
Set the page scale
Mark two points on a known dimension and enter the distance in feet. Each page has its own calibration.
Measure or count
Trace a linear route, place manual count points, or select a reference symbol for matching. Name the row and assign a layer so the quantity has a clear purpose.
Return and review
Open a saved row to focus its geometry on the correct page. Adjust route vertices or count points and review the updated result.

Counts you place yourself
Mark the items you identify on the page. A named count stays connected to those saved points, so you can revisit what was included.
Layers for a clearer review
Separate systems or scopes with named layers. Show and hide marks while keeping the saved quantity rows intact.
Find Similar
A candidate is not a count until you accept it.
Select a reference from the drawing and create a Symbol Set. Computer-assisted matching looks for similar shapes on that page; it does not decide what the symbol means or whether the item belongs in your scope.
Choose the reference
Select a representative symbol on the current page and link its Symbol Set to a smart-count row.
Find similar candidates
Run page-specific matching. Returned candidates start pending and do not contribute to the smart count.
Review against the plan
Accept included items and reject false matches. Check tags, nearby notes, missing items, and repeated references yourself.
Check the accepted quantity
Only accepted detections contribute to the linked smart count. Change a review decision and the count updates.

Does Takeoff create drawings?
No. Takeoff works from existing PDF plans. Relden Draw is the separate drawing workspace for creating layouts. Draw V1 is implemented, with public access coming later.
Can I find a quantity on its source plan?
Yes. Selecting a saved Takeoff row opens the appropriate page and focuses its route or count points, including a selected item on a hidden layer.
Can different pages use different scales?
Yes. Calibration is saved per page. Recalibrating a page recalculates that page’s linear quantities. There is currently one calibration per page, so details at other scales need separate review.
Is Find Similar fully automatic takeoff?
No. It matches a selected reference against one page and returns candidates for review. It does not understand every symbol, inspect the whole document, or finish an estimate. Only candidates you accept contribute to the smart count; manual counting remains a separate option.
