Read the legend first
Similar symbols can mean different work.
A duplex receptacle, a dedicated outlet, and an existing device may look closely related on the page. Start with the legend and keyed notes, then create separate count rows for the distinctions that affect your scope.
Relden lets you place marks yourself or review reference-based matches. Name rows by device type and location, and use layers to separate power, lighting, or controls as your review requires. You remain responsible for identifying symbols and checking what the drawing includes.
Sensors and controls
Keep occupancy sensors, control stations, and other devices distinct from the lighting fixtures they serve.
Drawn runs
Calibrate the page and trace a route through its bends. Review the measured length in feet and edit the vertices if your route changes.
The electrical pass
Count by type. Review by location.
Define a count
Choose the device type from the plan legend. Use a row name such as “Level 2 — duplex receptacles” to keep its purpose clear.
Mark or match
Place manual points, or select a reference and run Find Similar on the page. Accept included devices and reject lookalikes; only accepted detections contribute to the smart count.
Measure the drawn route
Set a known scale in feet before measuring. Trace the route you intend to quantify, with a vertex at each direction change.
Revisit the source
Open the saved row to focus the correct page. Review your count against the legend, notes, and any repeated references.
Check the tag, not just the shape
Find Similar can return candidates that resemble a selected receptacle or switch. It does not establish voltage, circuit assignment, mounting, or whether a device is existing. Review every candidate against the legend and notes before accepting it.

How does Find Similar help with repeated electrical symbols?
Select a reference symbol to search for similar candidates on that page. Candidates begin pending, not counted. Accept or reject them after checking device type and scope. Matching is implemented, but its public rollout has not been announced.
Can I revise a saved run?
Yes. You can move, add, or remove route vertices. The linked linear quantity updates, so you can inspect the revised route on its source page.
Are fixtures and controls counted together?
You choose the grouping. Separate named rows are useful when fixtures, switches, and sensors need different quantities. Relden does not infer these relationships.
